Making the meat industry a safer place for workers

14 December 2018
Focus area: Safety & wellbeing
Program stream: People & culture
Project number: 2018-1016
The significant focus on safety in the past 30 years led to a current phase in safety where only incremental reduction is possible through current safety strategies. As a result, significant reductions in Workers’ Compensation Premiums are unlikely to be achieved through this focus.

This project aimed to develop an accurate picture of the workers compensation claims in the meat processing industry across Australia and utilise the information in consultation with industry to develop a 3-5 year R&D strategic plan for work health and safety.
