18 May 2018
Focus area: Digitisation
Program stream: Advanced manufacturing
Project number: 2017-1003
This project considered opportunities for introducing Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) solutions to the Australian red meat processing industry, aiming to improve productivity for the worker and the plant.

The project conducted a consultation with the Australian meat processing industry that identified major opportunities for introducing IIoT solutions for real-time computing of knife sharpness and plant yield KPIs.

This consultation outcome led to the development and trial of an IIoT solutions for real-time KPI computation of knife sharpness that was conducted at the plant of an industry partner.

The report provides an overview of this solution and the outcomes of its trial during several normal production shifts.
