About AMPC
Aims
Australian Meat Processor Corporation (AMPC) is a national Research and Development Centre, representing all processors active in the red meat processing industry. AMPC aims to promote, protect and further the rights and mutual interests of its Members, including, but not limited to:
- The receipt of funds from the Commonwealth in accordance with the Funding Agreement for the purpose of investing in and financing projects for either the benefit of individual meat processors or the meat industry.
- The promotion of Australian meat in the domestic and international market.
- The improvement of red meat quality.
- The economic, environmental, health, safety and social well-being of the meat processing industry.
- The financing of commercially based research and development.
Accountability
- AMPC operates in an efficient and financially accountable manner
- It maintains true and accurate financial records
- It is externally audited, with such audit reports provided to Members
- It is subject to financial reporting requirements under the Corporations Law
Representation
- The Company represents a quantum shift from a top-down administratively focused organisation to a bottom-up, accountable project and Member-oriented structure
- AMPC is Member-focused
- The Board comprises 9 directors, 7 of whom are actively involved in the meat processing industry and 2 Special Qualifications Directors
- The Board consult Members and the processor Peak Councils, and other appropriate bodies in establishing AMPC's policies
- Industry research and promotional activities are conducted through a system of "willing partnerships" designed to deliver effective financial and commercial outcomes on your behalf
- AMPC is not simply a "money box" as may have been suggested from time to time
- AMPC, your company, will be actively involved in the design, implementation, and evaluation of processor-related projects. The AMPC, on your behalf, participates in Joint functions (such as Market Access, Meat Safety and Hygiene, Research and Development, Eating Quality, etc) and Core functions through contractual arrangements with Meat and Livestock Australia Limited (the producer company)
- Opportunities will be available from time to time to processors to identify additional projects in which they would wish AMPC to participate on their behalf
